LONGSTOX / HOW TO READ QDII FUND DATA

How to read QDII fund data: separate NAV dates, return cutoffs and purchase limits

Read QDII fund data by checking the NAV date, return cutoff, share-class currency and current purchase limit separately. QDII NAV can be published within two business days after the valuation date, so a NAV seen today is not today's live overseas-market move. A product-level purchase limit set by a fund manager is also different from an institution-level QDII investment quota published by China's foreign-exchange regulator; neither measure is a fund flow or trade signal.

Prepared and reviewed by the LongStox content team

Dates use Asia/Shanghai. This is the methodology review date, not a market-data timestamp. Refer to each tool for its data dates.

Separate four dates and times first

LongStox keeps the system snapshot time, fund NAV date, selected return-period cutoff and current observed purchase status separate. The snapshot time only says when the page assembled data; it does not replace the NAV date. A period return retains its own cutoff and is not advanced to a newer market-index date. If an upstream value is temporarily unavailable, LongStox retains the last valid return with its original date and marks the delay rather than replacing it with zero.

Purchase limits, institutional quotas and fund flows are different

The page's daily purchase limit is the currently observed subscription constraint for a specified fund or share class; the manager's latest notice and distributor rules remain authoritative. SAFE's QDII table reports cumulative approved investment quotas for domestic institutions, not a daily investor limit for one fund. A tighter or looser product limit alone does not establish inflows, outflows, a manager's view or future performance.

Compare NAV, returns and overseas exposure on like-for-like terms

Before comparing funds, align the main fund and share class, renminbi or US-dollar denomination, hedging status, NAV date and return cutoff. LongStox's US exposure uses disclosed US-listed equity and depositary-receipt weights. Values marked as approximate also include clearly identified US-focused ETF or target-ETF positions and are estimates. Do not rank different currencies, share classes, dates, or disclosed and estimated exposures together.

Reading checklist

What to checkHow to interpret it
NAV dateDo not substitute the page time or overseas close date for the NAV date.
Return cutoffKeep the data date attached to each return period.
Currency and share classSeparate renminbi, US-dollar, hedged and unhedged classes.
Limit typeTreat it as a product subscription constraint, not a flow or institutional quota.

Limits & counterexamples

LongStox covers a current curated fund pool, not the complete QDII market. Data is not real time; NAV, returns and purchase status can lag, be revised or become unsynchronized across holidays. Some US-exposure values are estimates, and current manager and distributor notices control purchase limits. Neither this guide nor the page is a fund-flow measure, complete-market ranking, return forecast, product recommendation or investment advice.
